Meet the Team: Nolan Meyer

Meet Nolan Meyer

Nolan Meyer, Research Analyst, joined the team in 2024 and works in our St. Louis office. As part of our Meet the Team series, we spoke with Nolan about his path to investment banking, his role at Nolan, and life outside the office.

My career started right here at Nolan & Associates, but my journey to finance began earlier. While studying at Saint Louis University (SLU), I gained early work experience as an intern at Charles Schwab and through a role at the SLU Chaifetz Arena ticket office.

Originally, I chose finance as a major because I thought I wanted to be a financial advisor. But as I explored other opportunities within finance, I discovered investment banking. The more I researched, the more fascinated I became. I was intrigued by how much I didn’t know, and my curiosity drove me to learn more.

For me, the most rewarding part of the job is seeing how the little things, the one-off tasks and smaller projects, come together to create something bigger. Watching these pieces come together to form a finished product is incredibly satisfying.

Being part of a team where everyone’s contributions are impactful and tangible adds to the sense of accomplishment. It’s especially fulfilling in my first job to know that the effort I put in plays a significant role in achieving our larger goals.

The best advice I’ve received is simple but powerful: “Show up 15 minutes early and leave 15 minutes late.” It’s about putting in the extra effort and showing that you’re invested in your work and your team’s success.

I’m a huge Vancouver Canucks fan, which might sound surprising for someone from St. Louis. It all started in second grade at a Blues game. Our seats were on the Canucks’ side during warmups, and I was watching the players when Cody Hodgson (#9) broke his stick. On his way to the tunnel, he handed it to me. At first, I thought he was reaching for a fist bump, but instead, he gave me the broken stick and later returned with a Sharpie to sign it.

That moment turned me into a lifelong Canucks fan. I even traveled to Vancouver to tour Rogers Arena, and the signed stick still hangs on my wall as a reminder of that unforgettable experience.

I try to stay active and enjoy spending time at the gym, playing hockey, golfing, and participating in a bowling league. On weekends, I enjoy catching up with friends, and I never miss a stop at Blues City Deli in St. Louis. It’s my go-to spot for sandwiches.

I’ve only been skiing a couple of times, but it’s something I really enjoy and hope to do more of. One of my bucket list trips is to ski in Japan to combine travel with a hobby I’d like to continue pursuing.
